Grōn O̠k Vrët (/groːn/ /o̠k/ [rigorous] [drama]) is a subtropical Town located in Igtoki Zone, Tuprmjagi Diocese, within the Covenent of Irus.

The name Grōn O̠k Vrët is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Grōn O̠k Vrët was founded by Casuanidae Daelret, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Grōn O̠k Vrët has a yearly average temperature of 32°C (89°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a blistering 37°C (98°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a warm 28°C (82°F). Grōn O̠k Vrët receives an average of 69 cm/y (27 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Grōn O̠k Vrët covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 11648 m (-4734 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Grōn O̠k Vrët was founded durring the late 12th century in spring of the year 1096, by Casuanidae Daelret. The establishment of Grōn O̠k Vrët was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Grōn O̠k Vrët's construction back out of the project. Casuanidae Daelret pushed on reguardles, and Grōn O̠k Vrët was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Grōn O̠k Vrët was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Grōn O̠k Vrët is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

Grōn O̠k Vrët is buildings are arranged arround a network of narrow cobblestone streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town posesses a mighty albit amaturly crafted stone wall. It was built using querried stone blocks and posesses all of the standard defencive features, including a few watch towers. While it would last against a siege, the wall's outdated and simplistic construction method percludes the possability of Grōn O̠k Vrët weathering a full scale bombardment durring a siege. The town's budget focused millitary grade defenses have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

Grōn O̠k Vrët is not quite well. Something happened here, perhapse recently, perhapse long ago. Whatever it was, it settled into the very soul of the town like a festering wound. The people go about their day well enough, but there’s a tention in the air you can cut with a knife. You get the terrible feeling that whatever it was, the wound it left will simply never heal. This town is as a necropolice.

Civic Infrastructure

Grōn O̠k Vrët has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Grōn O̠k Vrët. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Grōn O̠k Vrët's parks.

Grōn O̠k Vrët has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Grōn O̠k Vrët.

Grōn O̠k Vrët has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Grōn O̠k Vrët has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Grōn O̠k Vrët has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Grōn O̠k Vrët's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Grōn O̠k Vrët has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Grōn O̠k Vrët's natural decorations nor waterways.

Grōn O̠k Vrët has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Grōn O̠k Vrët has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Grōn O̠k Vrët is home to a distinct subculture, who are either the majority here or have the dominant positions in the community. Architecture, local laws, and social customs are all tuned to suit them, and they may not be particularly forgiving or friendly to the major culture of the region. Communities that are not outright independent usually make an arm's-length submission to a local lord.

Grōn O̠k Vrët's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by dynamic designs and complex architectural plan forms; intended to heighten feelings of motion and sensuality, and frequently based on the oval. It made extensive and extreme use of: Grandeur, Contrast, Curves and twists, Rich surface treatments, Gilded statuary, Bright colors, Vividly painted ceilings, Fragmented or deliberately incomplete elements, Large-scale frescoes, Dramatic central projections on an external facade, the use of plaster, stucco, or marble finishing, Illusory effects such as trompe l’oeil, and pear-shaped domes. While beloved by the nobility, the common folk tended to despise the style due to the massive consumption of resources required for even a small building constructed in this style.

Due to the actions of local Kami, summer is skipped in Grōn O̠k Vrët.

The Snake, Asp near Grōn O̠k Vrët are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Grōn O̠k Vrët's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves ritual combat to channel Conjuration energies of tier 3 via speaking in tongues.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century a great windstorm struck Grōn O̠k Vrët. Its winds were so great they picked up unsecured objects and flung them with enough force to smash brick and skull alike. Buildings collapsed under the gale, burying countless people alive. The storm's devistation was focused on the area arround Grōn O̠k Vrët, which lost 101 people, 238, and 62 livestock in the disaster.. History remembers the strom as The Storm of Agony.
